Antwone Fisher, Hollywood producer, award-winning film, literary writer, poet and UCLA Extension Writers Program Instructor was born in an Ohio prison to a teen mother and raised in abusive foster homes until age 14, then suddenly became homeless discussed how being true to himself and facing emotional, psychological, and physical abuse propelled him into a journey of mental wellness. He also discussed the importance of forgiveness. Fisher has said, “I think back on a childhood full of longing for belonging and see my life now, as what I have created out of my dreams.” He told Mrs. Brown at the orphanage, “You’ll read about me someday…”
