Having spent his entire career with The Cochran Firm’s Los Angeles office, Brian T. Dunn was originally hired by Johnnie Cochran himself in the summer of 1992, as a law clerk assigned to legal research and the preparation of pleadings dealing with civil rights litigation, with an emphasis in police misconduct cases. As an attorney, he has handled many of the Los Angeles’s office’s most high profile police misconduct cases, including those involving Geronimo Pratt, Reginald Denny, Devin Brown, Tyisha Miller, y, recently Mr. Dunn achieved a significant settlement in the federal civil rights case brought on behalf of the family of slain Marine Sergeant Manuel “Manny” Loggins. As one of the select few Los Angeles attorneys who have handled over a hundred separate civil rights cases, El Sr.. Dunn has achieved multi million dollar settlements and jury verdicts on behalf of his clients, and several of his cases have resulted in unprecedented changes in the training programs of municipal police departments. City of Sacramento, a landmark Supreme Court ruling which significantly expands the rights of convicted arrestees subjected to excessive force during arrest.
El Sr.. Dunn is a frequent lecturer on the realities of the practice of civil rights litigation, both to attorneys and to police officers, and has been a featured speaker on several occasions at seminars presented by DRI (the Voice of the Defense Bar), as well as several “Law Dog” seminars for law enforcement officers presented by Invictus Tactical. El Sr.. Dunn has additionally been a featured speaker at a tactical seminar presented by the Manning Marder law firm, in which participating police officers received P.O.S.T. credits.
Throughout his career, El Sr.. Dunn has achieved consistent results for his clients, achieving well over $50,000,000.00 in jury verdicts and settlements, and in recent years, El Sr.. Dunn has expanded his areas of focus to include cases involving trucking accidents and premises liability. In September of 2009, El Sr.. Dunn was a featured speaker at the “Fatigued Truckers” Seminar in Las Vegas presented by APITLA (the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers in America).
