Dean Logan

Dean C. Logan oversees the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. The department is responsible for registering voters, maintaining voter files, administering federal, state, local and special elections and verifying initiatives, referenda and recall petitions. Los Angeles County, with more than 500 political districts and 5.2 million registered voters, is the largest and most complex county election jurisdiction in the Country.

He has more than 25 years of experience in elections administration, records management, and public service. Prior to moving to Southern California, he served as the director of records, elections, and licensing services for King County, Washington; as state elections director for the Washington Secretary of State; and as the elected county clerk and chief deputy county auditor in Kitsap County, Washington. He is an active participant in the Future of California Elections collaborative, an initiative sponsored and funded by the James Irvine Foundation. Past work includes serving on the California Statewide Voter Registration System Advisory Committee and on the Pew Center for the States Voter Registration Modernization and Election Performance Index Working Groups. He is also an instructor for the MPA program at California State University, Northridge. He holds a degree in organizational leadership from Azusa Pacific University and an executive MPA from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington.
