As we approach the resetting of the Mayan Calendar, the Winter Solstice, and the beginning of a new year, or perhaps even a new age, it is a great time to look within. Throughout the election cycle, the holiday cycles and the 24-hour news cycle, it’s easy to get caught up in other people’s analysis, values, predictions and even other people’s realities! With all of the hubbub and hustle, the smart phones, iPads, 3DS’s and WiiU’s there is constant noise and outside stimulus. The television chatters at us at home, in the market and even at the gas pump, so silence and stillness are not readily available. Messages everywhere remind us to get connected, stay connected, and upgrade our connection to ever faster and faster speeds. Email, voicemail, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linked In, Tumblr, and Pinterest demand our attention. They are interconnected, constantly moving, and oh so distracting.
In the midst of all of this, we must remember to look within! We have to guard our “inner-net” our true connectedness with God, our source, our higher power. We have to remember that we know what we know and listen to that quiet voice. We must trust our intuition, and listen to the guidance the universe offers wherever it appears. Sometimes we pray or ask for a sign and then we’re moving so fast, with the headphones on so loud, that we miss the answers. If we don’t trust ourselves, who can we trust? If we won’t listen to our God who will we listen to? Who has our ear instead? If we won’t invest in a high-speed connection for our inner-net, why are we willing to spend so much time and money on our connection to the internet?
I’m not telling you to trash your iPhone and unplug from the matrix forever. I don’t plan to…And I wouldn’t ask that of you. After all, I want you to follow me on twitter (@ddiprima, @kjlhfrontpage,) like me on Facebook (www.facebook.com/frontpageshow,) and visit my website every day (www.dominiquediprima.com!) But I am reminding you – and most of all myself – to remember the original connection, the ultimate power source, without which none of these other gadgets and playgrounds matter. If you lose your mind what use is Facebook to you? If you are dumb, will a smart phone really help you?
Even if it’s once a day for ten minutes, first thing in the morning or before drifting off to sleep, check in with yourself. Maybe it’s once an hour for one minute, closing your eyes, breathing deep and remembering what you know. Perhaps it’s its a self-made mantra reminding you to focus on what you want, NOT what you don’t want. Or it could be a journal where you define reality as you see it, create and want it to be. Maybe it’s a little dance you do to the tune of you, reminding yourself that yours is a different drummer. But whatever it is let’s make a commitment to uplift ourselves every single day, to look within before we show out.
If 12/21/12 is truly the dawn of a new era as I believe it is, we have to do our part. If it is, in fact, the dawn of a love-based (instead of fear-based) global society, if it marks the rise of the feminine energy worldwide, and a higher level of spiritual connectedness, then this is an incredible opportunity to be part of shaping the beauty of what will be…of what is. We start with ourselves and thus we are able to elevate our homes, families and communities with grace and ease. The inner-net never crashes or bounces back, the bill is never due and it has infinite storage space…TIme to log on. You’ve got mail.
