District Attorney Jackie Lacey

Jackie Lacey has served as the District Attorney of Los Angeles County since December 3, 2012, winning re-election unopposed in 2016. Ms. Lacey is the first woman, and first African-American, to serve as LA District Attorney since the office was created in 1850. She joined the District Attorney’s Office in 1986 as a deputy district attorney. Ms. Lacey prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases while serving as a deputy district attorney, including the successful prosecution of the first race-based hate crime murder in Los Angeles County. Ms. Lacey is a Los Angeles native and graduate of the University of Southern California Law School. She leads the largest local prosecutorial office
in the nation, with a workforce of approximately 1,000 lawyers, 300 investigators and 800 support staff employees.

Attorney Caree Harper

Referred to as a “Warrior Angel” by the editor of the Pasadena Weekly, she was a recipient of the Shirley Fields volunteer award from the US
House of Representatives and the Pasadena NAACP, and she was a highly decorated police officer injured in the line of duty before becoming a civil rights attorney. She has been named as one of the “Top 100” National Trial Lawyers since 2014. Caree Harper represented 19
year old Kendrec McDade killed by Pasadena Police in 2012; Clinton Alford who was beaten, kicked and spat on by LAPD in 2014; freeway
beating survivor Marlene Pinnock (whose assailant resigned from the CHP as part of the Settlement Agreement); #BLM protestors who
blocked the freeway in 2016 and most recently Reginald Thomas who was killed by six Pasadena Police Officers.
