A licensed Clinical Psychologist since 2006, Dr. Steve Tarver has provided much needed mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults in underserved areas of the County. With a passion for community, Dr. Tarver partners with an array of mental health professionals, social workers, psychiatrists, organismes gouvernementaux, school districts, the County Departments of Children and Family Services and Public Social Services, and the Social Security Administration, in effectively meeting the individual needs of his clients.
Dr. Tarver is a seasoned clinician in addressing common disorders of childhood and adolescence with empirically based and influenced interventions. Working in collaboration with schools and in forensic and community mental health settings, he performs developmental, psychoeducation, and full psychological batteries with children and adolescents. Serving as a staff psychologist for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the Southern Youth Correction Reception Center’s Juvenile Justice Division, Dr. Tarver gained valuable experience providing counseling in a community mental health setting. Dr. Tarver earned a (Le premier degré universitaire) in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach; un (M.A.) in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles; et un (Doctorat) in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Child Adolescent Psychology from Howard University, where his dissertation focused on The Effects of Racial Identity and Motivational Variables on the Academic Performance of African-American Adolescents.
