Harry E. Taylor, Ph.D., was born and raised in New Jersey. He graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. The summer after graduation he worked at Merck Research Laboratories before enrolling at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, graduating in 2005 with a Ph.D. in molecular biology and genetics, with an emphasis in immunology. During his post-doctoral studies, he initiated studies on the role of cholesterol metabolism in HIV/AIDS. He has held faculty positions at Vanderbilt University e Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is currently on the faculty at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York where his lab continues to advance our understanding of the interplay between metabolism, immunity, and viral infections, including AIDS and COVID-19. His research efforts are aimed at informing therapeutic strategies with the ultimate goal of reducing viral transmission in high-risk populations and ameliorating the burden of these infectious diseases in communities of color.
