As a strategist, Jasmyne Cannick has worked at all levels of government developing custom-tailored communications strategies and messages for elected officials, political campaigns, and non-profit organizations. She successfully served several terms as a Press Secretary in the California State Assembly before going to Washington to work in the House of Representatives. Locally she’s worked for several city and county governments in the areas of public affairs and communications. Aujourd'hui, as a public affairs and communications strategist, Jasmyne continues to work on numerous local, state and federal candidate and ballot measure campaigns in California and has also expanded her practice to include working with some of California’s top criminal defense and civil rights attorneys. She continues to be a popular speaker at colleges, universités, conférences, and events discussing the intersection of politics, course, LGBT issues and civil rights for the 21st century.

Cannick was a regular on TVOne’s NewsOne Now with Roland Martin. Jasmyne has been a regular commentator on NPR including the now-defunct “News and Notes” shows. She’s worked as a segment producer on KJLH-FM’s “Front Page” show and continues to be a regular contributor to Southern California’s premiere news and current affairs show focused on the African-American community. She is also currently a regular contributor to KABC 790 AM’s “Midday Live with Dr. Drew.” She is the co-founder of My Hood Votes along with Compton rapper Eric “Eazy-E” Wright’s son Lil E, une initiative d'inscription des électeurs axée sur quartiers les plus durs comté de Los Angeles.
