Mary Ann was born in Long Beach California and obtained her law degree at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. Pour plus 30 years she has been a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney. Working in the Hardcore Gang Unit she prosecuted numerous violent gang members for murder, attempted murder and assault. She has tried 34 murder cases including special circumstances and capital cases. Mary Ann has extensive trial experience, obtaining justice for victims in over 100 jury trials in addition to thousands of other cases as a prosecutor throughout her career. As a supervisor of the Sexual Assault, Child Abuse & Domestic Violence unit she has interviewed hundreds of victims of child molestation and rape in order to better seek justice for them in the courtroom. Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Mary Ann Escalante says the desire to be a judge is no new aspiration for her.
