Michael’s father Jacques and uncle Bernard immigrated to the United States. as teenagers in 1947, having lost their entire family during WWII. After serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict, Jacques met and married his wife Lois and they settled into a working-class neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley to raise a family. Jacques and Lois taught Michael and his four sisters the value of hard work and the importance of strong community values. Driven by the desire to serve others, Michael founded a non-profit as a teen and has since established and operated several successful small businesses in the Los Angeles area. He worked full time as an undergraduate student and continued to work full time while raising his family and earning his law degree.
Michael is a civil litigator with over two decades of experience in state and federal courts, serving clients from all socio-economic backgrounds. As a judge pro tem in both the LA County Superior Court and Ventura County Superior Court, Michael has presided over 7,500 court cases, with hundreds of trials. Among all of his accomplishments, Michael is proudest of his two children – his daughter Hilary, an associate editor on the east coast and his son Ross, one of the nation’s youngest airline pilots. A lover of the outdoors, in his free time Michael enjoys hiking, golfing and skiing.
