Michelle Chambers, Candidate District 1 (Izquierda)

A Compton resident, Michelle Chambers is a Senior Field Deputy for the California State Legislature. With almost 28 years of government experience, Michelle has been on the front line of attacking issues plaguing communities within the Compton, Sur de Los Ángeles, and Watts areas. Desde hace más de 10 años, Michelle has assisted in legislative issues affecting disadvantaged communities under the leadership of retired Congresswoman Diane E. Watson and Congresswoman Janice Hahn. As a Senior Field Deputy in the CA State Assembly, Michelle has assisted in current legislation in the California State Legislature around firearms, re-entry services, criminal justice reform and addressing the homelessness epidemic.

Janna Zurita, Concejal, Distrito 1 (derecho)

In her first foray onto the political stage, Janna Zurita was overwhelmingly elected to the Compton City Council on June 7, 2011, soundly defeating eight-year incumbent Barbara Calhoun to represent the First District. Born and reared in Compton, Councilmember Zurita is the daughter of retired public administrator Clarence Zurita and former two-term Compton City Councilmember Delores Zurita. She is the sister of Compton Unified School District (CUSD) Board of Trustees President Satra Zurita. Prior to being elected to the Compton City Council, Zurita worked at various hospitals in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. She also managed her own business.
