Miranda Sheffield is running for Pomona City Council and will be the first Black woman if she is victorious.
Sheffield grew up in the foster care system and harbors a genuine concern for our youth. She believes we can do more to assist our foster youth community and provide vital resources to people and families currently unhoused. Rent control & police reform are also top issues as she is a member-organizer of Pomona United for Stabilized Housing (PUSH) and a core member of Police Oversight Starts Today (POST), a group pushing for more pathways for local police accountability.
Sheffield is deeply familiar with many of the challenges Pomonians face, from personally addressing student loan debt to unemployment. As a working commuter student and single parent, she understands the value of reliable and affordable public transportation. Many residents struggle to find housing, access healthy food options, and address chronic health disparities. Pomona can be a pivotal model of how to assist families and working people.
