America 9-1-1

Democracy on Life Support: by Dominique DiPrima

Governatore: (Ovviamente) Gavin Newsome – It’s not that he’s so amazing but he’s the Democrat and this is Cali. And his opponent reminds me of Mike Pence, so no…

Com. Governatore: Whoever – Um…Cause, yeah. It’s Lt. Governatore.

Superintendent of Schools: Tony Thurmond – Easy peasy…He’s the African American candidate, he’s well qualified and he’ll stand against the privatization of our schools. I was happy to vote for this guy! (I voted early this election with my boss, Sig.. Stevie Wonder!)

Yes on Proposition 10! I interrupted my candidate list because this is really important and I’m not sure if you’re gonna read this whole ballot. Cities have to be allowed to explore every possible option to alleviate California’s housing crisis. It doesn’t make sense to not look at housing built in the modern era. This is not a scary, or extreme or bold step nor is it any of the stuff the ads say. All it does is allow California cities to make up their own rules about rent control, vacancy policy and other ideas to make housing viable in the Golden State. Maybe the most important thing on this year’s ballot!

Secretary of State: Alex PadillaHe’s doing a great job. He’s working on making it easier to vote in California – a Democrat who will protect our voting rights.

Controller: Betty Yee – Qualificato, a Democrat with strong ties in the African American community.

Treasurer: Fiona Ma – Going with the Democrat here and the one with more experience

Attorney General: Xavier Becerra – A progressive Democrat appointed to takeover for Kamal Harris when she went to the Senate. He is already doing a great job defending California against the wackos in Washington.

United States Senator: Kevin De Leon – Because I believe the Democratic Party needs to be led by its’ progressive wing.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters – Do I really have to tell you to vote for Auntie Maxine? Please don’t take her for granted. She’s running against a sleazy (well-funded) Trump minion.

Deputata Karen Bass – We don’t deserve her.

State Senator Holly MitchellOne of the real life good guys.

Assessor: Jeffry Prang – Democrat

Sheriff: Alex Villanueva – His interview is posted on our Facebook if you’d like to hear for yourself. (Among other things he says he will investigate the case of Mitrice Richardson)

Inglewood Mayor: James Butts – I don’t live in Inglewood, but I do work there. Butts may not be perfect, however the city is thriving under his leadership. And no matter what your criticism is…Replacing him with an inexperienced Trump-supporter is a really, really dumb idea.

Judges of the Superior Court (Interview podcast is on www.soundcould.com/diprimaradio)

Ufficio #4: Veronica Sauceda

Ufficio #16: Patti Hunter

Ufficio #60: Holly Hancock

(This is a win-win as both would be good judges but we need more Women and African Americans on the bench)

Ufficio #113: Javier Perez

State Measures:

Measure 1: SI – Funds housing for homeless Veterans and other low-income folks

Measure 2: SI – Alloggiamento & help for the mentally ill

Measure 3: YES – Pays for water infrastructure

Measure 4: YES – Funding for construction of Children’s Hospitals

Measure 5: NO

Measure 6: NO!!!!!!!!! - We need to invest in our roads for safety, traffic relief and those stupid potholes! Sure we all want cheaper gas, but you’ll end up spending more to fix your car if road repairs are halted.

Measure 7: SI – Daylight Savings Time is pointless and annoying.

Measure 8: No recommendation

Measure 10: YES – I know I already said it, but worth saying twice! We have to deal with our housing crisis from every possible angle!!!

Measure 11: No Recommendation

Measure 12: YES – If you are what you eat, then we definitely don’t want to torture our food supply…

Los Angeles Measures:

Measure B : SI – A city bank will help cannabis businesses and gives us more options
Measure E : YES –
Let’s consolidate our elections to save money and increase turnout
Measure EE : YES –
Same as above for schools

  9. What does LA County Measure W, il $300 million per year Safe Clean Water Ballot initiative have to do with the Black community’s economic vitality?

    Turns out, a whole lot.
At its core, we support Measure W because of its impact on empowering African Americans and other communities of color in Los Angeles County – making business pay their fair share for the clean water that Black and brown residents are most likely, otherwise, to be deprived of. Measure W is a progressive tax that spreads the compliance burden equally with no groups paying more than their fair share.

    • Please let me know if this is the best way to vote on Measure W
