Sade Elhawary grew up in LA and Pasadena and has been working in the community ever since she can remember. Her passion for education and social justice grew at UCLA, where the lack of diversity in 2006 prompted her to get involved to increase the representation of students of color at prestigious universities like UCLA. While attending school, she worked at her old high school as a college mentor for 3 years, then attended Harvard for graduate school to become a teacher. After graduating last year, she came back to the community and began working with Community Coalition as a youth organizer in South LA to have a deeper impact on the education system rather than being directly in the classroom.
