Felicia “The Poetess” Morris started her career over 25 years ago as a syndicated radio host on Lee Bailey’s Hip Hop Countdown & Report that aired in over 33 markets in the U.S. The Poetess was the first female rapper on Interscope Records where she released her 1992 álbum debut “Simply Poetry” on Poetic Groove/Interscope Records that featured an all-star line up including Jamie Foxx, Kool G. Rap, Def Jef and The Baka Boys. Ms. Morris continued her career in radio and joined the staff of 92.3 The Beat (later 100.3 The Beat) in Los Angeles in1994. She hosted a weekly countdown show called The Agenda and later became Community Affairs Director and host of Real Talk, a show that focused on political, health and community issues. While at The Beat, The Poetess introduced the music of Erykah Badu, Próximo, Suga Free, Bobby Ross Avila, and others to the Los Angeles listening audience.
En 2013, Ms. Morris put her dream in motion and started taking steps toward building Morris Media Studios, an Internet radio and podcast studio located in the heart of the Leimert Park/Crenshaw area of Los Angeles. Within the walls of MMS, The Poetess works daily building her Internet radio network morrismedialive.com – that focuses primarily on talk radio formats. “I think it is important to help give the community a voice.” says The Poetess who produces over 20 shows on the network.
