Wrestling referee who forced student to cut dreadlocks suspended

A New Jersey high school wrestling referee, who forced a Black competitor to cut his dreadlocks in order to compete, was suspended Wednesday, according to Time.

White referee, Alan Maloney, received a two-year suspension from the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association. Additional officials are required to enter anti-bias training in efforts to “help prevent such discrimination in the future,” according to the state’s attorney general…LEER MÁS
